Congratulations, Class of 2022!
Last week, we celebrated the graduation of Davis College’s extraordinary Class of 2022.
“There’s something extraordinarily special about a commencement ceremony, something magical in the air. It is the culmination of not just months, but years of hard work. Years that began far before your first day at Davis College. This journey began at different times for each of you, but brought all of you together through a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic, to this day of celebration.”
The day marked an incredible milestone for our community, as our first class of co-ed graduates received their diplomas.
“Although we are celebrating an ending of your time as students, for me, this day is about the incomparable promise of what lies ahead for each of you. The promise of opportunity: to step out of your comfort zones, to continue learning, and to grow into yourselves as you begin your next chapter.
For the Davis College community, it is also the opportunity to celebrate you, as exceptional students. To celebrate the ways that you navigated the extraordinary last two years: learning challenging lessons, taking care of one another, adapting to new needs, solving problems in new ways, and thriving in this new world. I have been involved with this community since day one, for more than a decade, and in my estimation, the Class of 2022 is stronger and more ready than ever to face the future and lead our communities through whatever global challenges may lie ahead.
And it will be my great privilege to continue cheering each of you on in the years to come, through the entire arcs of your lives. I know I will be reading about you in newspapers, hearing your names in elections, seeing you in boardrooms, and watching on in admiration as you build our world better and better.
No matter the challenges we may face, I ask that you look around for a moment and acknowledge all that you have achieved, and take those achievements with you into the future. Carry the spirit of curiosity from your classroom into the world, and know that your Davis College community will always be with you, celebrating the extraordinary journeys of your lives.”
