Kigali Welcomes World Leaders for CHOGM

Last week, Kigali hosted CHOGM for a dynamic week of gatherings and global collaboration. We were incredibly proud to be represented by our students in the Commonwealth Youth Forum (of which there were four throughout the week: Commonwealth People’s Forum, Commonwealth Business Forum, Commonwealth Women’s Forum, and Commonwealth Youth Forum).

Chosen to join the International Youth Taskforce, our students were addressed by Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland and the Rwandan Minister of Youth and Culture Hon. Rosemary Mbabazi, in addition to attending panel sessions and joining in conversation with fellow attendees and global leaders.

“Throughout the week, our students were invited to participate in capacity-building sessions and networking opportunities. They stood alongside Commonwealth Youth partners from around the world addressing some of the world’s greatest shared challenges and celebrating collaboration. Working in solidarity around topics like ‘Youth and Human Capital: Inclusive, Equitable, and Accessible Opportunities’ and ’Sustainability: Environment, Climate Change, and Blue Economies,’ one of our students expressed to me that she felt ‘at home’ alongside her fellow young leaders from around the world. I know that our entire team and community is sharing in great pride, seeing our students participate in this opportunity. The exposure and enrichment that comes with such an experience is a rare privilege.”
